After meeting in Second Life with students from Akron and Dublin I am slightly more open and excited about the virtual world. Thinking about it, I think SL will prove to be an effective method of communication between Akron and DIT students. SL provides a place where students can interact verbally as well as written messages. With the speaker and IM setup, I imagine that after a bit of use, we will be able to communicate with one another in SL with ease. However, as of now I would still prefer a traditional classroom setup. I am one that does get frustrated with technology from time to time so it will be interesting for me if the virtual world shows that it too can be effective and educational.
